The plastic small-bore quick connector, which was unveiled at Medical Design & Manufacturing West (MD&M West), Feb. 10-12, 2009 in Anaheim, Calif., is ideal for medical device designers focused on health care fluid application arenas.

Created with the end user top-of-mind, the unique, patent-pending design is intuitive, easy to use, safe, secure, and reliable. The SBL Series quick connect fittings are intended to take the guesswork out of in-hospital and consumer-operated medical equipment.

These new check valves come in multiple medical grade materials and sizes to meet a diverse set of fluid management applications. SF Series sanitary fittings from Value Plastics are designed for use in single-use container fluid transport systems, manifolds and wherever sensitive fluids must be transferred. They are offered in two flange sizes, 1-1/2” (“Maxi”) to comply with the ISO 2852 specification, and the popular 3/4” (“Mini”) size commonly used with small tubing sizes. SF Series sanitary fittings incorporate 600 Series barbs for easy use with silicone, C-Flex® or Tygon® tubing.

Value Plastics expands its line of XQC Series quick connect fittings / quick disconnect couplings with 8 new configurations and an additional raw material family.

20 new component options are available from stock in two materials with ¼” and 3/8” hose barbs. Available products include, in acetal copolymer resin with Buna-N o-rings, open flow and valved panel mount male and female versions, open flow straight male and female connectors and open flow and valved male elbows. White polypropylene versions, with EPDM o-ring seals, are available in straight valved male and female connectors.

The fluid supply vessel is connected to the valve supply port (chimney) using a luer connection or tubing. The fluid is withdrawn from the supply vessel by a syringe or other device connected to the aspiration port. When the syringe is compressed the fluid is then transferred, through the exit port, to the use site without adulterating the fluid.
